Wuxi, China—Twelve-year-old Kian Ezekiel Castigador, a proud Ilonggo, made waves on the international stage by clinching two gold medals at the 2024 World Taekwondo Grand Slam Youth League Final, held in Wuxi, China, from August 16 to 18.
Castigador, a Grade 7 student at Ateneo de Iloilo, showcased exceptional talent and dedication in the sport, securing top honors in both the Youth Mixed Pair Poomsae and Youth Team Male Poomsae categories. His victory not only highlights his personal achievements but also brings honor to the Philippines in the global arena.
Having been a member of the Philippine National Poomsae Team Training Pool since 2023, Castigador has honed his skills under the guidance of the Coach Flora Taekwondo Academy. His outstanding performance in Wuxi is a testament to his hard work, discipline, and the support of his coaches and family.
The young athlete’s success is a source of immense pride for the Ilonggo community and the entire nation, as he continues to inspire other young Filipinos to pursue excellence in sports.
