How to Acquire COVID-19 Vaccines in CDO

covid 19 update

During the 304th COVID-19 press briefing of the Cagayan de Oro LGU headed by Mayor Oscar Moreno, updates were released about the city’s recent roll-out of the Sinovac and AstraZeneca Vaccines (see image above). Since the Sinovac vaccinations started earlier (March 05, 2021) than AstraZeneca, the total vaccinated individuals are now a total of 4,261 or 94.04% of the delivered 4,531 to different hospitals. However, most of these vaccinated individuals are front-line health care workers that are part of the Priority Group A as identified by DOH. (See the infographic below.)

If you are ready to take the vaccine, please verify your priority group first, as advised by Cagayan de Oro city health officer Dr. Lorraine J. Nery. Currently, since the newly arrived Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccine are only for priority group A which are the:

  1. Employees of the frontline health services
  2. Senior citizens (from oldest)
  3. Patients with illness
  4. Nonmedical frontline personnel from different sectors, including uniformed personnel
  5. Indigent and the poor

The press briefing also released a summary of the city’s COVID vaccination targets (see image below).

Among the 9,436 total frontliners included in priority group A of the city, 4,697 are already vaccinated or around 49.77%. One vaccination team also reports a total vaccination number of 75 to 100 pax/day which resulted in the city becoming way ahead of the scheduled COVID-19 vaccination. Following the frontliners are the senior citizen group – a total of 112,961 of the population. The city health office targets to finish their vaccination of the senior citizens in about 16.10 to 21.51 days with 70 vaccination teams on the job.

For the remaining population, it will take 93 to 125 days, granted that more vaccines will come and that the priority groups have already received the vaccination.

Right now, the vaccines are for those who are pre-identified and are within the quick substitution list of each hospital. There will be no walk-in clients.
