TJ Monterde opened up on his aspirations in music and the profound impact he aims to achieve during an interview with Bernadette Sembrano.
When asked about his main goal in his career, the Palagi singer emphasized that he always aims to inspire and impact listeners through his music.
“From the very beginning, gusto ko lang talagang makapaginspire ng mga tao or makapag impact sa mga listeners through the songs that I make,” he said.
He further added, “I’d rather stick to my core na, honest and raw songwriting,” highlighting that authenticity in music resonates more to listeners. He also noted his song, Palagi, was written in that approach.
The singer also shared a heartfelt encounter with a fan during a meet-and-greet session after a concert at Araneta.
“Meron nagpa-pa picture sa akin nung meet and greet,” he said.

TJ narrated that the fan left after the photo opportunity, but returned with an unexpected message.
“Sabi niya, ‘TJ, I just have to tell you something,’” he recounted, “‘You just saved my 17-year marriage.’”
Monterde was struck by the gravity of the moment, feeling a profound sense of validation for his work.
“Doon ako nabibigyan ng pat on the back… Parang you’re doing a great job in life or sa passion na pinili mo,” he reflected.
He also shared that this was not an isolated incident.
“Kahit abroad, may nabibigay gift sa akin—maglalagay doon ng message na ‘Thank you for saving our marriage,’” he said.
Monterde was moved by the sentimentality of the song to others, saying, “Natutuwa ako whenever I hear stories like those.”
