House of the Dragon (HOTD) recently wrapped up its second season on Monday with eight episodes. With this, fans are eager to find out when is House of The Dragon season 3? While HBO has already confirmed the following season, there’s no official release date yet. Moreover, the creators say that we only have two more seasons left of the Game of Thrones prequel.

Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal says, “There are so many great events that we are already writing (about) in season three as it is. There’s gonna be giant moments of spectacle but real moments of surprise and character nuance that we’re very much looking forward to.”

House of the Dragon Season 3’s release date is yet to be announced. However, production is set to begin in early 2025. The showrunner answers reporters regarding season 3’s release, saying, “I haven’t had discussions with HBO about it. I would just anticipate the cadence of the show, from a dramatic storytelling perspective, will continue to be the same from Season 2 on.”

Condal further adds that HOTD will only run for four seasons. “A Song of Ice and Fire” author George R.R Martin says the book, which House of the Dragon is based on, would only last four seasons.

In his personal blog, the author mentions that the entire book would probably take four seasons with ten episodes each. However, fans only got eight episodes in the recent season. So, hopefully, the show could get more so that the viewers will get to see all the events in the book.

In addition, fans don’t need to worry about running out of Game of Thrones shows. HBO is currently working on another prequel, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” which takes place a hundred years before the GOT timeline.

With regards to the Season 2 Finale, numerous fans asked why the “Battle of the Gullet” was not included. To this, Condal responds, “We were trying to give the Gullet, which is arguable the most anticipated – well, I would say maybe the second-most-anticipated – actin event of ‘Fire and Blood,’ trying to give it the time and the space it deserves.”

Watch and catch up on the House of the Dragon by streaming it on HBO Go in the Philippines.
