American actor John Aprea, who is known for his charisma and array of roles, has passed away in Los Angeles. He was 83 years old.
Manager Will Levine confirmed that John Aprea’s cause of death was of natural causes. Aprea was born in 1941 of Italian descent and spent his early years in Italy before resettling back in the States. His first acting role was in the 1968 film classic film “Bullitt.”

John Aprea appeared in movies and TV shows, including “Cage Heat,” “Crazy Mama,” and “The Manchurian Candidate.” He also had a role in Taylor Hackford’s “The Idolmaker” as well as Mario Van Peeble’s ‘New Jack City.’
Aprea’s career skyrocketed when he auditioned and got the part of the young Tessio in “The Godfather Part II.” According to Levine, Aprea reached out to Abe Vigoda for advice on playing the role. The latter reportedly said to Aprea, “I don’t know what I did. Just have a good time, kid.” The advice soon became a guiding principle for John Aprea throughout his career.
John Aprea in ‘The House’ was also one of his most recognizable credentials, where he played the exterminator dad of John Stamos’ Jesse Katsopolis. The actor also reprised his role for the 2017 Netflix reboot. John Aprea continued his career, such as featuring in “New Jack City,” “NYPD Blue,” “CSI,” and “The Sopranos.”

Aprea was predeceased by his sister, Rosanna Sole. He is survived by his wife and partner of 25 years, Betsy Graci, his daughter Nicole from a previous marriage, and his stepchildren, Marika Parker and Valentino Graci. A private service will be held to honor the actor’s life.
