Award-winning actress and singer Glaiza de Castro recently revealed how music played a crucial role in her life, serving as a lifeline during her most challenging moments.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, the multi-talented performer shared how music became her “moral compass,” offering both inspiration and guidance when she needed it most.
Music as Her Guiding Light
When asked about the significance of music in her journey, Glaiza reflected on how it shaped her perspective, particularly during her teenage years.
“Para po sa’kin, ito ang nagsilbing inspirasyon ko,” she explained. “Especially when I was 16 years old, na I was trying to figure out what I want to do sa buhay ko.”
The actress further emphasized how song lyrics provided wisdom and comfort, helping her navigate life’s uncertainties.
“Through music, ang dami kong natutunan sa buhay,” she added.
Finding Strength in Grief
“May mga pagkakataon po kasi, diba, na nadi-discourage tayo, nawawalan tayo ng pag-asa,” she said.
Glaiza then opened up about one of the most painful experiences in her life—losing her grandfather.
“Personally, may time sa buhay ko na nawala yung lolo ko,” she recalled. “I took it really hard kasi lumaki ako sa kanya.”
To cope with her grief, she turned to music, writing a heartfelt song with her cousin in honor of her grandfather.

Touched by her story, Abunda asked Glaiza to perform the song. She shared that it is titled Magandang Simulain, a phrase her grandfather often told her.
“Huwag mong kakalimutan yung maganda mong sinimulan kasi pag maganda mo siyang nasimulan, maganda mo siyang tatapusin,” she explained, reflecting on her grandfather’s words of wisdom.
Sinagtala
Beyond her personal connection to music, Glaiza de Castro is also set to showcase her musical talents in the upcoming film Sinagtala, alongside co-stars Rayver Cruz, Rhian Ramos, Arci Muñoz, and Matt Lozano.
The actress expressed that she deeply relates to her role in the film, as it aligns with her love and passion for music.
