In an industry where celebrity relationships often fall prey to the pressures of fame, Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas continue to defy the odds.
The celebrity couple’s enduring partnership, which spans over three decades, was featured on Gladys Reyes’ YouTube channel. The episode, marking Christopher’s birthday, offered a rare glimpse into their bond and the values that have kept their marriage strong.
The couple’s candid exchange was both lighthearted and profound.
At one point, Christopher teasingly asked his wife, “Minsan ba gumising ka sa harap ng salamin, sinabi mo lang ba’t ito na pangasawa ko? Yung totoo.”
Gladys quickly denied ever questioning their union, responding, “Wala no, walang ganon… Pinalalangin ko talaga eh.”
Throughout the conversation, both emphasized that their marriage is far from perfect—a sentiment they embrace wholeheartedly.
“Recently we celebrated our 32 years of togetherness. So why did it last that long? Yun ang mga tinatanong nilang common na tinatanong.” Gladys shared.
“Hindi kami perfect,” Christopher admitted, “But that’s what makes us perfect, imperfection.”
He elaborated on how their shared purpose and commitment to their family have guided them through life’s challenges.
“Basta ang purpose namin is maging masaya kami—yung mga anak namin mapatama, maging mabuting mag-asawa kami, mabuting ama… That’s what’s important,” he said.
Christopher added, “Nag-aaral pa rin kami sa pagsasama namin and it’s a fun ride, sometimes malungkot, but sabi nga ‘di ba it’s not the destination it’s the journey. No, it’s who you are with in the journey.”
Gladys echoed his statement, saying, “Yung 32 years, hindi naman yun kaagad plantsado diba. It was not an easy ride… Ang dami muna naming pinagdaanan na bumps on the road, ika nga, bago naging patag talaga lahat.”
Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas first met as teenagers on the set of Mara Clara in 1992, where they began as an onscreen love team before becoming a real-life couple. They tied the knot on January 23, 2004 and are blessed with four children.
