TikTok user ‘quiltedbyderlyn’ posted a video on TikTok after giving her Filipino maid a quilt just before she left in the middle of June.

In a TikTok video shared by user ‘quiltedbyderlyn’, netizens got emotional after a Filipina maid received a heartwarming gift before returning to the Philippines.

“I finally gave my Yaya her quilt. She leaves in the middle of June, and buying her flight ticket was unexpectedly heavy and difficult to do 💔.” the TikTok user said.

“Goodbyes are tough. So I’m already checking out tickets to fly her to Singapore soon!” she added.

According to the user, Yaya had to leave the country due to employment restrictions for her age. 

“Exactly! It’s 34 years, we ARE her family. It’s just so sad we aren’t able to keep her in the country due to employment restrictions for her age.” She responded to a netizen’s comment.

In the video, Yaya can be seen emotional as she receives the TikTok user’s farewell gift and allegedly cries behind the quilt as she holds it.

Meanwhile, a netizen commented and thanked her for treating her Yaya well.

“But I also thank you for treating her well… not all Filipinos are lucky to be able to find a family to be with abroad.”

The TikTok user then emphasized that Filipina maids shouldn’t be treated differently if they truly care for the family.
