FELIP Brings 7Sins to Japan & Makes OPM History

FELIP or SB19 Ken brings his first solo album, 7sins, to Japan. The physical copy of the album is sold exclusively in the country. Sales began on August 21 with exclusive merchandise, content, and a bonus track, “Tokyo.”

The artist became the first Filipino musician to reach the top of CDJapan’s all-genre rankings in 27 years, doing so on the first day of pre-orders. FELIP also held fan events and has a concert scheduled for September 2 at the Shibuya Duo Music Exchange.

However, this isn’t the first time he made history. A few years ago, the Grammys Global spin featured “Bulan” by FELIP. He was the first Pinoy artist to do this. SB19’s Josh Cullen followed a few years later with his hit, “Yoko Na.”

Aside from his CDJapan achievement, 7sins also topped Amazon Japan’s Hip-Hop category. In fact, it reached Tower Record’s top 10 K-pop-/World CD reservation ranks. Interestingly, his first solo album topped Rakuten’s Pop/Rock genre and sold out on Japan’s Warner Music online store.

The Bisaya singer shared how this is a dream come true for him. Japan is his dream country as an anime fan and admirer of its culture, as evident in his social media posts during his visit.

He once said in an interview, “Japan is my dream country. I watch a lot of anime, so basically I love everything in Japan. It’s such a dream to promote my album in Japan and I’m looking forward to performing there!”

Moreover, FELIP took the opportunity to take “GENTO” on his Japan tour. It is SB19’s biggest song to date. Other SB19 members include John Paulo ‘Pablo’ Nase, Josh Cullen Santos, Stell Ajero, Justin de Dios, and Ken Suson himself.

Recently, the singer also converted numerous casuals to A’TIN or Sisiws. In their promos for the Watsons Live 2024 concert, Ken joined his SB19 brothers in a TikTok video of Alamat’s “Maharani.” The video gained popularity with multiple comments saying, “Who’s the red-haired guy?” As of this writing, the video now has over seven million views.
