Starting April 7, 2025, the visa application process will become more streamlined and convenient with the opening of five Japan Visa Application Centers (JVAC) across the Philippines.

Operated by VFS Service Philippines Inc., these centers aim to provide faster and more efficient services, replacing the previous system of accredited travel agencies.

Effective April 7, all visa applications must be submitted to a JVAC branch.

Travel agencies will no longer process applications after April 6, but those who already applied through them before the cutoff can still claim their passports there.

JVAC offices will be available in five locations across the Philippines:

  • Metro Manila:
    • Makati City: Makati Circuit Corporate Center Tower Two
    • Parañaque City: Parqal Mall, Diokno Avenue
    • Quezon City: Gateway Tower Mall, Araneta City
  • Other Locations:
    • Cebu City: Faustina Center, F. Cabahug Street
    • Davao City: Felcris Centrale, Quimpo Boulevard

JVAC branches will be open Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

  • Manila branches accept applications until 2:00 PM.
  • Cebu and Davao branches accept applications until 12:00 PM.

This change is expected to simplify the process for Filipino travelers, addressing backlogs and reducing waiting times.

Applicants must pay a visa fee plus a service fee of ₱520 at the time of application, with costs varying depending on the visa type.

When will the new visa application process take effect?

The new process will start on April 7, 2025.

Can I still apply through travel agencies?

No. Travel agencies will stop accepting visa applications after April 6, 2025. However, those who applied before the deadline can still claim their passports from the agencies.

Why is Japan changing the visa application process?

Japan aims to make the process easier, faster, and more organized by centralizing it through JVAC.
