Former Sugarpop member, Enzo Almario, claims that he’s also a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of GMA’s musical director, Danny Tan. He came forward through a YouTube video with singer Gerald Santos.

In the video, Santos said Almario reached out to him to share his unfortunate experience with the musical director when he was only 12.

“Siya po ay mas bata pa sa akin. Magkakasama kami noon sa GMA at siya po ay miyembro ng Sugarpop na mina-manage nitong si Danny Tan,” Santos said in the video.

“Nung lumabas ako, nagkaroon daw siya ng sign mula kay Lord—green light na lumantad na rin siya,” he continued. “Dahil hindi na rin po makayanan ng kanyang konsensya na hayaan na lang ang mga nangyayaring ganito.”

Santos also shared that Enzo Almario has already given testimony about the abuse that happened in 2008.

“It took some time bago lumabas si Enzo dahil hindi po biro ‘yung pinagdaanan niya. Sa kanya nga po multiple times, ang dami po,” Santos said.

In turn, Enzo expressed his gratitude to Gerald Santos for being the first one to speak about their abuse. He also urged other victims to speak up.

Their legal counsel, who was also in the video, then said that they would take the needed steps to put a stop to Danny Tan’s sexual harassment.

Enzo Almario also shared his thoughts on a Facebook story: “It took me a while to address this issue, but I am no longer afraid. I shouldn’t live in fear.”

“I was raped and deceived by the same person who also raped Kuya Gerald,” he continued.

The former Sugarpop singer also shared a new post on September 12 in which he addressed the people who contacted him.

“I’m also in an indescribably uneasy place after writing down everything that happened, from start to finish. “Reliving those moments makes me feel as powerless and deceived as I once did. With my current understanding, it’s impossible not to get emotional,” Almario wrote.

He ended his post with, “To anyone else who was a victim of this person, speak up and free yourself. This wasn’t our fault; HE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF OUR INNOCENCE,” he continued, referring to Tan.

“I sincerely hope [to] get justice, not just for ourselves, but for the potential victims he may be targeting and everyone he already preyed on.”
