Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia shared his profound reflections after watching Combo On The Run (2025), the highly anticipated documentary chronicling the band’s journey.
The film, which promises an intimate look into the iconic Filipino band, has apparently stirred deep emotions and insights for Buendia.
The frontman expressed a newfound appreciation for filmmaking and documentary directors, stating, “After seeing the cut I saw, I had sort of a deeper respect for filmmaking and documentary directors.”
But more than just the technical aspects, the documentary seems to have provided him with a fresh perspective on interpersonal relationships.
“I also had a deeper understanding on human nature more than before and how communication and expressing oneself is very important,” he said.
When asked about the experience of watching such a personal story unfold on screen, Buendia admitted that it wasn’t always easy.
“There’s some parts that are more difficult to watch than others,” he confessed.
However, he maintained an overall positive impression for the film.
“”All in all, I had a very good time watching and very entertained. Objectively, I thought it was a really good film,” he remarked.
The lead vocalist also touched upon the universal themes present in the Eraserheads’ story. He believes that fans will connect with the film on multiple levels.
“The story of the band is quite epic in so many ways. But there’s also very, there are moments that’s sort of small but very relatable to everyone,” he explained.
He also hoped that audiences will appreciate the dedication the band put into their music and that it might even “powered the guys in the band to have another try being a band again.”

Reflecting on past grievances, Buendia acknowledged, “There’s that feeling na, a lot of pain and heartache could have been avoided if we just talked about it.”
However, he also recognized the importance of those difficult experiences, adding, “But then, there are some things that you have to go through painfully in order to have that realization.”
Eraserheads: Combo On The Run (2025) is a documentary that explores the iconic band’s journey from their rise, disbandment, to eventual reunion. The documentary is set to premier in cinemas nationwide on March 21-23, 2025.
