Twitter faces changes as Elon Musk temporarily changes reading limits for verified, unverified, and new unverified users. Consequently, users must get a paid Twitter Blue subscription for verification and the highest reading limit.
Chief Twit explains these new rules address “extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation.”
Twitter is one of the biggest and most popular social media platforms where public figures, celebrities, and the government regularly post updates and relevant information. However, the recent changes will significantly affect how public figures and various organizations reach out to the public, especially their respective fans and clients.
Currently, unverified accounts will only be able to see 600 posts per day, while only 300 in a day for new unverified accounts. Meanwhile, users with over a million are still allowed to read a maximum of 6,000 daily posts.
Shortly after the news, Musk tweeted that the rate limits would “soon” increase to 8,000 tweets for verified users, 800 for unverified users, and 400 for new unverified accounts.
The limitations occurred after Twitter blocked access to users who aren’t logged in on the popular social media platform.
Musk claimed it was necessary because “Several hundred organizations (maybe more) were scraping Twitter data extremely aggressively, to the point where it was affecting the real user experience.”
As a result, the new rules may discourage people from using the platform further. In addition, the rules may also limit people viewing advertisements, driving away advertisers from Twitter. – WhatALife!/Val
