The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that classes for public schools will start on June 16, 2025, marking the official beginning of School Year 2025–2026.
This decision aligns with the return to the traditional June-to-March school calendar, which was interrupted by the pandemic.
The announcement was made following the approval of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in May 2024.
The academic year will run for 197 class days, ending on March 31, 2026.
Enrollment and the Brigada Eskwela activities will take place from June 9 to 13, 2025, just before classes begin.
These activities are aimed at preparing schools for the start of the school year and ensuring that students and teachers are ready for a smooth transition.
The shift back to the traditional schedule comes as DepEd continues to address the challenges posed by climate-related disruptions and other educational concerns.
The change is expected to benefit students, parents, and educators who are familiar with the June-to-March cycle.
DepEd has also been revising the Senior High School curriculum, with plans to implement phased adjustments starting in the same school year.
These changes aim to enhance the quality of education and align it better with global standards.
For the coming school year, DepEd urges all stakeholders to prepare for the upcoming changes.
Including participation in the enrollment and school preparation activities scheduled for June.
DepEd is returning to the pre-pandemic school calendar to stabilize the academic year and reduce disruptions.
The decision was approved by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in May 2024.
Brigada Eskwela is a school preparation program that involves the community in cleaning and repairing public schools to ensure they are ready for the new school year.
