American pop singer David Archuleta has returned to the Philippines after six long years, with the singer himself sharing how thrilled he is. The former “American Idol” star made an appearance on “Unang Hirit” for his upcoming concert this weekend.

Archuleta teased his return by sharing a post last June: “Philippines! I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be coming back to Manila on September 14th for a special performance. I’ll be singing some of my most popular songs as well as some new ones, too! I might even sing some of my favorite OPM songs. I can’t wait to see all of you then!”

“I’ve been waiting six long years to come back; there’s the whole pandemic and everything that happened,” he said. “I missed the Pinoys, the people, the culture, the food.”

“When I come here, not only are they big fans of ‘American Idol,’ the songs I release,” he added. “I feel like we act the same. I see myself so much in the Filipino culture, and I’m like, oh my gosh, am I Filipino?”

During his appearance, David Archuleta shared how the Filipinos make him feel welcome and at home. The singer even shared about making the most out of his visit, as well as looking forward to eating mangoes, sisig, pancit, bangus, and adobo.

In that regard, fans expressed their huge delight at his return and cannot wait for what he has in store.

Archuleta previously visited the Philippines back in 2018 for a fundraising concert. He even starred in the local TV series Nandito Ako in 2012 and released an all-OPM album Forevermore in the same year.

David Archuleta’s concert in Manila, officially titled “Playback Presents: The Best of David Archuleta Live in Manila,” will be available on September 14. Fans who plan to attend the concert should expect some of David Archuleta’s famous songs to be featured. Concert tickets are still available to purchase as of this article’s writing.
