In a recent vlog on Ryan Bang’s YouTube channel, the comedian and TV host sat down with actress Danica Sotto-Pingris for a mukbang session. Years after their first meeting at Anne Curtis’ wedding, the two recalled a hilarious anecdote involving Danica’s father, Vic Sotto.
Ryan began the conversation recalling their first encounter at the airport before the ceremony, which the actress offered the comedian to join them for a meal.
“So sumali ako,” Ryan shared with his signature humor, “Sabi mo, ‘Kumusta ka Ryan? Kumusta sa Showtime?’”
In all his innocence, the Showtime host enthusiastically shared some details of their upcoming segment which involves dating.
The scenario took an amusing turn when Danica asked if Ryan knew her father’s identity, which led to the latter’s moment of confusion.
“Sabi niya sa akin, ‘Kilala mo ba tatay ko? Nagshe-share ka ng Showtime,’” he recalled, citing his confident response that the actress’ father may be an avid viewer of their show.
He added, “Tapos sabi mo ‘Tatay ko si Bossing.’”
Ryan admitted he initially thought “Bossing” referred to a company executive rather than Vic Sotto. Danica clarified she was referring to the Eat Bulaga! host.
Still skeptical, the comedian asked for proof to confirm her claim. The actress noted that the TV host probably thought she had only taken a fan photo with Vic Sotto.
The situation became even funnier when Ryan turned to his close friend and Showtime co-host Vice Ganda, whom he referred to as “Mommy,” for validation.
“Mommy nakakatawa, inaasar nila ako,” he said, “Si Ate Danica, tatay niya daw si Bossing.”
He reiterated Vice, saying, “‘Gagi mag-sorry ka. Tatay niya talaga!’”
Ryan laughed at his mistake after spilling all the secrets about Showtime’s upcoming segment to someone whose father is a host to their direct competitor.
The candid retelling of the story offered fans a glimpse of their real-life personalities behind the screen. Not only does it highlight the quirky encounters in showbiz but also remind viewers of the fun, unscripted connections that form off-camera—even between competing networks.
