Criminology Graduate Beaten to Death After Being Mistaken for Thief

A criminology graduate, Christian Tendido Ambon, was fatally beaten and stabbed after being mistaken for a cellphone thief. 

Ambon, 26, who had recently moved from Las Navas, Northern Samar, to seek employment, fell victim to a mob attack in Barangay 718, Malate.

According to reports, Ambon’s cellphone was snatched on February 8. Determined to retrieve his cellphone, he pursued the thief to a nearby house. 

However, upon entering, the occupants and neighbors, under the impression that Ambon was the thief, attacked him.



He was beaten, tied up by barangay officials, and reportedly stabbed with an ice pick. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ambon died due to his injuries on February 20.

A video circulating online shows that Christian was already wounded and defenseless as he was forcibly restrained and tied up.

Adding to that the alleged thief even filed trespassing and frustrated murder charges against Christian Ambon. 

As the investigation unfolds, the police continue to examine different accounts of the incident to uncover what really happens.



The family is determined to file charges against the cellphone snatcher and those responsible for the brutal beating that ultimately took his life.
