Country Music Awards Rejects Beyoncé ‘s ‘Cowboy Carter’

country music awards rejects beyonce s cowboy carter

The Country Music Awards have snubbed Beyoncé despite her album “Cowboy Carter” being one of the country’s biggest hits.

Fans have been expecting Beyoncé to garner recognition at the 2024 CMA Awards. They even believe that she could become the first black woman to be shortlisted for Album of the Year.

However, the singer has not received any nominations. Instead, the CMA Awards granted Morgan Wallen seven CMA nominations in 2024. Three years ago, Wallen’s record label suspended him for using a racial slur. Many considered him a controversial figure in the music industry.

Beyoncé previously hinted that her treatment at the past CMA awards prompted her to make a country album. She shared on her Instagram post that Cowboy Carter was “born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcome.”

Back in 2016, the awards show didn’t feature her, but The Chicks performed one of her songs, “Daddy Lessons.”This sparked criticisms from netizens online. The group’s lead singer, Natalie Maines, even said the treatment of Beyoncé at the Country Music Awards was “disgusting.”

Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” and its single “Texas Hold ‘Em” lasted at the top of the country music charts for ten weeks. It even earned the singer 12 nominations for the 2024 People’s Choice Awards. This further fuels the fans’ concern about why the CMA didn’t even give her a single nomination.

The CMA Awards has not commented on their reasons for ignoring her album. However, their criteria judge the Album of the Year prize on all aspects, including the artist’s performance, musical background, engineering, packaging, design, art, layout, and liner notes.
