The Commission on Elections (Comelec) began delivering ballots for the 2022 elections to city and municipal treasurers’ offices around the Philippines on Wednesday, April 20.
In a press conference held Tuesday evening at the Comelec warehouse in Pasig City, Commissioner Aimee Ferolino said the actual deployment of the ballots will start around midnight on April 20.
Ferolino went on to say that the poll body hopes to distribute all ballots by May 5. She stated that these election materials will be delivered directly to the city and municipal treasurer’s offices in the presence of election observers and officers.
Ferolino also assured the public that security procedures are in place to safeguard the ballots as they travel to their final destinations.
Other election supplies, in addition to ballots, will be deployed, according to the poll body.
The Comelec has printed a total of 67,442,616 ballots on April 2, ready for next month’s elections.
Meanwhile, out of the 67 million ballots,1.7 million were deployed abroad for the month-long overseas voting that started last April 10, 2022. – WhatALife!
