MANILA — The Department of Education announced on Sunday that 832 schools across five regions will have NO Classes or Class suspensions for today, Monday, July 29, 2024. #WalangPasok: Class Suspensions on Monday, July 29

Originally scheduled for Monday, July 29, the opening has been postponed due to the impact of Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon.

The regions affected include the National Capital Region, Region I, Region III, Region IV-A, and Region XIII.

The number of schools affected are as follows:



  • NCR: 225
  • Region I: 85
  • Region III: 452
  • Region IV-A: 66
  • Region XIII: 4

Last week, Typhoon Carina intensified seasonal rains, causing widespread flooding and landslides that resulted in at least 21 deaths.

The southwest monsoon, exacerbated by Carina, affected around 12,800 schools. Of these, 246 reported flooding and 425 were used as evacuation centers, according to the Department of Education.
