In a touching and insightful interview on the set of Maalaala Mo Kaya, Charo Santos-Concio sat down with Bianca Gonzalez on Paano Ba ‘To? to talk about her views on ambition, contentment, and passion.
The conversation began with a compelling juxtaposition of two iconic quotes: Norman Vincent Peale’s “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you land among the stars,” and Socrates’ “He who is not content with what he has would not be content with what he would like to have.”
Bianca asked where Charo sees herself between these philosophies.
The former ABS-CBN President responded with a grounded perspective shaped by her journey.
“When you’re young, there’s so much to look forward to… you aim high, you dream, you soar,” she reflected, “But for me at this stage of my life, I’m really content.”
She added, “I’m content with my journey but looking forward for more adventures, more stuff to learn in life. You never really stop growing.”
Bianca then asked if Charo ever felt pressure to reach certain milestones, especially in her younger years.
The former media executive shared that while she didn’t feel forced to achieve specific benchmarks, she did have a deep sense of purpose from a young age.
“I guess I wanted me to be proud of myself. I wanted also to give pride to my parents, to my family, and then I was very much encouraged by my late husband to pursue my dreams,” she said, adding that she always aimed to be independent and self-reliant.
Bianca referenced Charo’s autobiography My Journey, noting the people who helped uplift her.
The former executive warmly acknowledged the people around her, stating, “I always look back to everyone.” She also expressed gratitude for those who walked with her throughout her path.
