The live-action film of “Cells at Work!” is finally unveiled. The film’s official website has revealed the official trailer, movie details, and cast.
The film will star Takeru Satoh and Mei Nagano, alongside Sadao Abe and Mana Ashida. Additional casts include Shota Sometani, Kyoko Fukada, and Rihito Itagaki. Hideki Takeuchi is set to direct the film.

The film is based on the widely popular “Cells at Work!” anime, which itself is adapted from the best-selling manga written by Akane Shimizu. The story focuses on the lives of anthropomorphic cells and their daily roles within the human body. Nagano plays a red blood cell who encounters various bacteria and receives assistance from a white blood cell, played by Satoh.
The anime debuted in 2018 and featured a second season in 2021. The success has also led to a darker spin-off titled “Cells at Work! Code Black.”

The trailer for the Cells at Work!’ live-action film also features the theme song “50%” by the Japanese rock band, Official HIGE DANdism. The band is recognized for providing popular anime openings, which include works for Tokyo Revengers and SPY x FAMILY.
“We hope that this song will accompany and combine with the movie and bring humor, emotion, and other wonderful colors to many people and cells,” the band commented regarding the movie.
“Cells at Work!” is set to be released on December 13, 2024. Watch the full trailer below:
