Canadian singer Celine Dion said on Saturday that using her song ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at former president Donald Trump’s rally was unauthorized and not endorsed.

The ‘Titanic’ theme song and its video clip were played at Republican presidential candidate Trump’s rally in Bozeman, Montana, on Friday, August 9.

While the crowd in Montana waited for Trump to take the stage at his rally, ‘My Heart Will Go On’ from Titanic started playing. The unique song choice caused quite a stir online, with many questioning why a political campaign would choose to play a song associated with a sinking ship. #trump #donaldtrump #trumprally #montana #news #politics #election #president #jdvance #republican #usa #titanic #celinedion

Trump held the rally to support a Republican candidate running for Senate. In it, Trump attacked Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Celine Dion’s representatives published a statement on her official social media accounts saying, “In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.”

“…And really, THAT song?” the statement ended with a cheeky question.

Aside from the Montana rally, the song was reportedly played at numerous previous Trump campaign rallies. The 1997 hit song ‘My Heart Will Go On’ was the theme song for the movie Titanic, about the deadly sinking of the luxury ship in 1912.

Celine Dion is best known for this song, and she reportedly refused to perform at Trump’s January 2017 inauguration when the former president took office after winning the 2016 United States election.

This isn’t the first incident that artists and bands have spoken up about Trump using their songs at his rallies. For instance, Adele, Rhianna, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, and Pharell Williams have asked the former president to stop using their works in his campaigns.
