City Health Officials announced seven new positive cases for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Cagayan de Oro on Wednesday, August 26. In today’s press briefing, City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery reported seven new COVID-19 confirmed cases, of which three are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), two are returning overseas Filipino (ROFs) workers, and two local cases (one local Authorized Persons Outside Residence). The total cumulative cases for COVID-19 in the city is 262. Out of the cumulative total, 87 or 33.20 percent are active cases, three currently admitted at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), 15 outpatients staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), and 69 cases under the ROF/LSI category. Dr. Nery also announced five new recoveries, bringing the total recovery count to 166 (63.35%), while deaths remain at nine (3.4%). Of the 266 cumulative total, 208 are under the LSI/ROF category, constituting 79.38 percent, with 69 active cases and 139 recovered. Meanwhile, local cases rise to 54 including the two additional cases, bringing the total percentage to 20.61 percent, with 15 active cases, nine deaths, and 27 recovered. City Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya, on the other hand, reported the latest COVID-19 status in the city, starting with the repeat swab results of patients from the TTMF. • 228th Case: 40 male, ROF from Brgy Iponan; tested positive on 2nd swab

• 197th Case: 14-year-old male, LSI from Brgy Lapasan; tested positive on 2nd swab
• 171st Case: 28-year-old female, LSI from Brgy Lapasan; tested positive on 3rd swab
• 174th Case: 46-year-old female, ROF from Brgy Macasandig; tested positive on 3rd swab
• 175th Case: 22-year-old male, LSI from Brgy Kauswagan; tested positive on 3rd swab

258th Case: 31-year-old female, ROF from the Middle East

• A resident of Brgy Patag
• First swab in the Middle East on August 12; tested negative
• Arrived in NAIA on August 16; second swab upon arrival
• Stayed in a hotel in Manila; Result came out negative on August 18
• Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 19
• Staying at the CIU
• Swabbed on August 24; Result came out positive on August 25
• Asymptomatic with no known comorbidity
• Contact tracing is ongoing
• For transfer to TTMF

259th Case: 23-year-old female, LSI from Lahug, Cebu

260th: 33-year-old male, LSI Mambaling, Cebu

• Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea vessel on August 18

• Swabbed on August 24; Result came out positive on August 25
• Asymptomatic with no known comorbidity
• Contact tracing is ongoing
• For transfer to TTMF

261st Case: 39-year-old male, Local case

• A resident in a gated community in Brgy Bulua
• Mild symptoms started showing up on August 21
• Went to a private hospital for check up on August 22
• Admitted to NMMC at the early hours of August 23
• Swabbed on August 24; Result came out positive on August 25
• Experiencing mild symptoms with no known comorbidity
• For discharged today and will be transferred to TTMF
• Identified 11 close contacts; CIU close family contact
• Contact tracing is ongoing
• No focus containment; expand active surveillance around the area

262nd Case: 22-year-old female, Local APOR

• A resident in a relocation area in Indahag
• Exposed to COVID-positive Case 242 at the workplace on August 17
• Brought to CIU on August 22
• Swabbed on August 23; Result came out positive on August 25
• Asymptomatic with no known comorbidity
• Contact tracing is ongoing
• Direct family contact brought to CIU
• For transfer to TTMF

Dr. Retuya also reported three retagged COVID-positive cases: a 38-year-old male APOR from Laguna, 41-year-old male APOR from Cebu, and 80-year-old male from Lanao del Sur. The COVID-positive case from Lanao del Sur, unfortunately, expired while undergoing treatment at NMMC. Moreover, the City Epidemiologist also announced five new recovered cases in the city, namely:

• 191st Case: LSI from Mandaue, Cebu; tested negative on 2nd swab
• 158th Case: 34-year-old female, LSI from Sta Mesa; tested negative on 3rd swab
• 179th Case: 31-year-old female, ROF from the Middle East; tested negative on 2nd swab
• 180th Case: 65 female, ROF from New York; tested negative on 2nd swab
• 37 female LSI; tested negative

Selected areas in Carmen, Camaman-an, and Gusa remain contained where COVID-positive patients reside, while active health surveillance team continues to monitor the area.
