The Catholic Church announced that his canonization will take place on April 27, 2025.

Carlo was born in London in 1991 but grew up in Italy.

Despite his young age, he was deeply devoted to his faith.

Acutis was also a tech-savvy teen.

He taught himself coding and web design, and by the age of 11, he had built a website documenting Eucharistic miracles from around the world.

His goal was simple: to help others rediscover the wonder of the Catholic faith through technology.

Many now call him the “Patron Saint of the Internet.

He passed away in 2006 from leukemia.

Even as he battled illness, he never lost his joy or trust in God.

He offered up his suffering for the Pope and the Church, saying, “I’m happy to die because I’ve lived my life without wasting even a minute on things that don’t please God.”

In 2020  Carlo was beatified after the Church confirmed that a boy in Brazil was healed of a rare disease through his intercession.

A second miracle, involving a young woman from Costa Rica who recovered from a serious brain injury, led to the decision to canonize him.

Carlo’s mother, Antonia Salzano, recently released a book titled My Son Carlo, where she shares stories about his everyday life, strong faith, and how he always tried to help others.

As the date of his canonization approaches, Carlo Acutis stands as a powerful symbol of how holiness can thrive even in the digital age.

What is canonization?

Canonization is the official process by which the Catholic Church declares a person to be a saint. It means the Church believes the person lived a holy life and is now in heaven, able to intercede for people on Earth.

Why is Carlo Acutis being canonized?

Carlo is being canonized because of his virtuous life and the miracles attributed to him after his death. The Catholic Church has officially recognized two miracles through his intercession, which is a key requirement for sainthood.

What is the process of becoming a saint?

The process has four steps:
Servant of God – when the Church starts looking into the person’s life.
Venerable – when it’s confirmed they lived a holy life.
Blessed – after one miracle is approved.
Saint (canonization) – after a second miracle is confirmed.
