On its debut day, ‘Borderlands’ earned a flat 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. According to PCGamer, if its ratings don’t improve, it will place the movie “at a comfortable midpoint on RT’s 100 worst movies of all time list… and at first place on their Worst Blockbusters of All Time list.”

Rolling Stone’s David Fear also called the movie “an insult to gamers, movie lovers, and carbon-based life forms.”

As of writing, ‘Borderlands’ rating has climbed to 6% on the website. Some reviews found the positive side of the movie. For instance, Tatiana Hullender from Screen Rant wrote, “Borderlands rushes through too many plot points for its own good, but it’s saved by its likable cast and willingness to lean into video game moments.”

In another review, Grace Randolph from Beyond the Trailer wrote, ” I’ve never played the games, but I got a kick out of Blanchett starring in a movie like this – and doing a great job! I do wish the script had been adjusted a bit better to accommodate her age. Blanchett fans will enjoy this, not sure about anyone else.”

‘Borderlands’ stars Nicole Blanchett, Ariana Greenblatt, Jack Black, Edgar Ramirez, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The story centers around Lilith (Cate Blanchett) as she returns to Pandora for a rescue mission. She’s trying to find the daughter of Atlas (Edgar Ramirez) and gets the help of a ragtag gang of misfits along the way.
