Melai Cantiveros’ new podcast, “Kuan on One,” spotlights Bisaya celebrities, delving into their personal lives and journeys to fame. This week’s episode features Maria Nicolette Vergara, famously known as BINI Colet.

During the episode, Colet shares her transformation from a shy girl to a showbiz star, detailing the challenges she overcame to succeed. She also reflects on the struggles of being away from her family during her training days.

BINI has made a significant mark in Philippine entertainment. Their hit summer song, “Pantropiko,” expanded their audience, leading to increased streams of their entire catalog. Thanks to their soaring popularity, they recently wrapped up their Philippine concert tour and are now heading west.

Just yesterday, a Thanksgiving mass was held to celebrate their achievements. Their team also sought guidance for their upcoming North American trip and concert.

The ‘Kuan on One’ podcast featured BINI Aiah a few weeks ago. Now, it’s BINI Colet’s turn to share her story in her native language. During her appearance, she discussed auditioning multiple times for various showbiz roles.

Additionally, she recounted her original audition for Star Hunt and how proud her family felt when she was accepted. Colet’s journey illustrates that stepping out of one’s comfort zone can lead to rewarding outcomes.

On the topic of being timid, Colet shares her past struggles with needing marshalls for escort. She credits her Bisaya roots for her strength and resilience, allowing her to push beyond her comfort zone.

Colet also revealed that she originally auditioned for “Tawag ng Tanghalan” on It’s Showtime. Although she successfully made it through and was set to perform, she chose to stay in Bohol to prioritize graduation.

The podcast also revealed how Colet kept her Star Hunt audition for Pinoy Big Brother a secret. She shared that she didn’t tell anyone, not even her family, about the audition. Colet recalled previously asking her parents to audition in Cebu, but they had refused.

So when auditions came to Bohol, she ensured she wouldn’t miss it. This audition introduced Filipino audiences to the Colet they know and love today.

When Melai asked if she ever wanted to quit and go home, Colet admitted she had. She explained that during their Korean training, she hadn’t seen her family for months, as they were in Bohol, and she was training in Manila.

BINI Colet and her group members have an exciting future ahead. The group’s leader, Jhoanna, recently teased numerous upcoming international songs. Blooms are also eagerly awaiting the BINI documentary coming soon on iWantTFC. Watch Colet’s “Kuan on One” appearance here:
