Philippines’ Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina are off to a slow start at the first round of the 2024 Paris Olympics women’s golf event at the Le Golf National on Wednesday, August 7.

Pagdanganan, who is competing in her second Olympics, avoided a rough start by making three birdies on the back nine to shoot an even-par 72.

The 26-year-old made three bogeys on the fourth, fifth, and seventh holes. But then she finally found her rhythm and made birdies on the 12th, 15th, and 18th holes.

Bianca Pagdanganan is currently at a standstill for joint 13th place with 12 other golfers, including Belgium’s Manon de Roey, India’s Aditi Ashok, Germany’s Esther Henseleit, USA’s Rose Zhang and Nelly Korda, China’s Ruoning Yin, Malaysia’s Ashley Lau and Venezuela’s Minjee Lee.

Other golf players are still yet to finish the first day of competition.

Meanwhile, Dottie Ardina is tied at the 40th spot with five other golfers after swinging to seven pars in the first nine holes. She then got four bogeys and a double bogey in the front and back nine.

Joining her in the position are Korea’s Hyo Joo, China’s Pei-Yun Chien, Norway’s Madelene Stavnar, Germany’s Alexandra Forsterling, and Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit.

France’s Celine Boutier earned the top spot with 7-under after hitting eight birdies for 65. While South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai got 4-under 68, obtaining the solo spot for second place. Meanwhile, four other golfers are in third place after finishing with 70.

The second round of the competition resumes on Thursday at 3 PM (Philippine time).
