The Filipino folk-pop band Ben&Ben has found itself at the center of controversy, accused of being the reason other acts couldn’t perform at various events. After facing multiple allegations of sidelining fellow artists, the band has finally broken their silence.
Most recently, rumors have been circulating that the band was the reason soloist DWTA didn’t perform during the FEU Diliman event. There were only speculations that the folk-pop band was the reason others weren’t able to share their talents.

The issue revolving around the band reached multiple online platforms. The Ben and Ben issue reached Reddit, where many listeners shared their thoughts on the folk-pop act.
Yesterday, August 19, Ben&Ben released a statement. It reads, “For years, we have chosen not to speak on the issue of the band being the cause of other performers not being able to perform at certain events. This has caused the band to be dragged left and right with baseless accusations and maligned statements.”
Their statement further adds that their management has “clearly expressed that it is a priority to ensure that the event goes as planned and all performers are able to perform.”
Due to the Ben&Ben issue, the band shared that their management now includes a stipulation in their contract. This section cites “that the band will only agree to perform if the program of events is followed and no artist performance gets canceled or moved around.”

However, this isn’t the first time the band has faced this kind of controversy. In 2022, there was an issue between Tanya Markova and Ben and Ben. The Tanya Markova band shared that during a grand rally in Camanava, the band was supposed to be the 25th performer. However, they performed on the 17th, and the band’s explanation was that they were just in the van and had gone to the stage when the staff called them.
In addition, the band said in a podcast that, “Naayos na namin para matapos lang ang issue. Ang ginawa lang namin ay tumindig lang kami para sa mga ibang musikero na nasaktan. Okay na kami sa hindi naman nila kasalanan.”
Ben&Ben’s statement also mentioned this specific incident in 2022. “The band had taken the extra steps of reaching out not only to Tanya Markova, but to all the other affected performers, even if it was the responsibility of the organizers of the event to own up and be accountable. We have screenshots and receipts as proof of this.”
