Bela Padilla, a multi-talented actress, writer, and director, shared her insights on what kept her thriving for 18 years in the ever-evolving world of Philippine showbiz during an interview with MJ Felipe on On Cue.

Bela’s career began as a high school student with no formal background in acting. Reflecting on her longevity, Padilla emphasized the importance of constant self-improvement.
“I was very eager to learn and I took the workshops very seriously,” she said.
The actress shared she would study on her own, buy books, and request for workshops in challenging roles.
This dedication to honing her craft extended beyond local boundaries. When she relocated to London, Padilla explored techniques that could enhance her performances back home.

“I’m happy that I studied when I moved to London,” she remarked, highlighting how the experience contributed to her versatility as an artist.
She also pointed out that success in showbiz isn’t solely about talent.
“It’s not one formula to survive 18 years in the industry,” she stated.
For her, preparation and timing play pivotal roles.
“I always say I don’t believe in ‘luck’ per se,” Bela expressed, “Luck for me is being ready and being in the right place at the right time.”
Another key factor in her enduring career is staying informed and adaptable. She emphasized the importance of educating oneself about various topics related to one’s profession.
“Make sure you inform yourself on certain things or different kinds of things especially if it’s something that could relate to your profession,” Padilla advised.
