After 26 years, Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is near to showing and has made an opening at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. The original cast made a presence alongside new faces to promote the film before its global release.
The sequel to the 1998 film “Beetlejuice” is an attempt to bring back one of Burton’s most beloved creations to modern audiences. Tim Burton admitted that he fell out of love with the filming industry and its approach in recent years. However, he added that shooting the sequel helps rediscover that love.

Burton further shared that he is further encouraged to realize the sequel while working on Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ back in 2022.
The success of Beetlejuice served as Burton’s breakthrough, helping him work on other successful films, including Batman, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The returning cast includes Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton, who are respectfully reprising their roles of Lydia Deetz and Betelgeuse. Joining them is Jenna Ortega, who is recognized for her role as Wednesday in a series of the same name.
She will take on the role of Lydia’s teenage daughter, Astrid. Other big names to feature in the film include Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe.

Many praised and reacted positively to ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ during its opening at the film festival. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar’s screenplay is filled with effective punchlines. Burton’s visual jokes are consistently hilarious, even while pushing the boundaries of how eccentric and macabre a blockbuster can be.
Many also praise Michael Keaton for keeping the role of Betelgeuse alive. Since taking the role, Keaton himself admitted he loved the part, which contributed to the first film’s success, and he hopes to carry that in the sequel.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” or Beetlejuice 2 release date is set for September 4, 2024.
