arci munoz says credit card stolen during flight warns public about new modus

Filipina actress and singer Arci Muñoz shares her story on how a man stole her credit card during her international flight on a business-class seat.

Muñoz took to Tiktok and shared her “horror story” experience last Friday, Nov. 10 when she boarded Korean Air’s flight KE 704 saying she was flying back home to the Philippines after having her vacation in Japan last week. Arci muñoz’s flight departed Narita, Japan on that same day at 2PM and landed at Incheon, South Korea for a one-hour layover.

She went on to recall her entire experience and said, “When I was resting in my cubicle sa business class ito nangyari—when it was time to land, syempre nagising ako, naalimpungatan ako [tapos] may lalaking nakatayo sa cubicle ko,” Muñoz stated.

She described the man as “nakaayos, maporma” (fixed and formal), and wearing “magarbon luxury items”, just like any first-class passenger. She continues with, “Kinukuha niya ‘yung magazine d’on sa cubicle ko, knowing that all cubicles in the business class have magazines. Ako naman, inisip ko lang na baka wala siya nung magazine na nando’n sa cubicle ko.”

By a stroke of luck, a woman, whom the actress described as God-sent, approached her and asked if she knew the man who was in her cubicle. Upon responding that she did not, the lady confronted the man, saying “Why did you touch her bag?”

Muñoz suddenly wondered why her bag disappeared. She continued that she saw her bag on the floor near the aisle. Muñoz noted that the man’s luxurious items and neat appearance is part of an organized “modus” in victimizing airplane passengers.

She also stated that she didn’t notice anything was missing in her bag. However, after two days, she received a notification from the bank that someone was using her credit card in Vietnam and Jakarta.

While she did thank her bank for immediately taking action on the matter, Muñoz was not able to report the man during her flight layover due to limited time. She addressed the Korean Air airlines and gave them her e-mail, hoping that she would hear back from them regarding the case.

In Muñoz’s TikTok video, she ended her video with a statement “the world is not a safe place.” She hopes that her experience would serve as a warning for travelers to be vigilant and mindful of their possessions during flight.
