Japanese voice actress Emi Shinohara sadly passed away at 61 on Tuesday, September. 10. Her agency, 81 Produce, has made the announcement and confirmed that Emi Shinohara’s cause of death is from an unspecified illness.

In light of the news, 81 Produce has released the official statement, which is translated into the following:
“We regret to inform you that our actress, Emi Shinohara (real name Emiko Watanabe), passed away peacefully at the age of 61 on September 8, 2024, after battling illness despite medical treatment. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness shown to her during her lifetime and humbly announce her passing.”
Shinohara has built a remarkable voice-acting career over several years and has become a well-known voice talent in the anime industry. Fans will forever remember her for many iconic roles. Some of Emi Shinohara’s characters include Sailor Jupiter from the Sailor Moon series and Kushina Uzumaki from Naruto Shippuden.

Tribute for the actress has poured from both members of the anime industry and fans alike. Megumi Ogata, who voiced Sailor Uranus in Sailor Moon and Yukito Tsukishiro in Cardcaptor Sakura, shared a written post on Twitter/X.
