Angkas CEO George Royeca gets his license suspended by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) over a traffic incident in Cainta, Rizal last February 2, 2025.

A viral video showed a group of Angkas drivers obstructing traffic at the intersection of Cainta for over two minutes. Honking protests from frustrated drivers were also ignored.

In addition, the riders also violated traffic rules by ignoring a clearly visible “No Left Turn” to facilitate their convoy’s passage through the busy highway en route to LTO Unity Motorcade on Marilaque Highway.

Royeca issued a public apology, admitting the riders’ lack of discipline, disregard for safety, and failure to follow traffic rules—principles that Angkas claims to uphold.

According to LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II, the CEO surrendered in the office after the incident and took responsibility for the mistake of the riders.

Mendoza initially stated Royeca’s license was revoked. However, they later clarified it was on a 90-day suspension, following an ongoing investigation.

The LTO Chief also said they are investigating other Angkas riders to determine their exact role in the Cainta traffic obstruction incident.

Those involved are being scrutinized for violating Section 27 of Republic Act No. 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, which deems them “improper persons to operate a motor vehicle.”

Meanwhile, Cainta Mayor Elenita Nieto imposed sanctions on Angkas, ordering the company to perform community service as a penalty.

“Sa libu-libong netizens, viewers, at botante na nakakita ng viral video—ramdam namin ang inyong pagkabahala. Ang Angkas ay kailangang maging ehemplo ng disiplina sa kalsada, at sisiguraduhin naming mas magiging maingat at responsable kami sa mga susunod na pagkakataon.,” he wrote in his initial public apology.

Angkas CEO George Royeca is also a candidate in the 2025 elections, vying for a seat in the House of Representatives as the first nominee of the Ang Kasangga party-list.
