In a recent interview with Maricel Soriano, Angeline Quinto reminisced about her early beginnings in the entertainment industry with an anecdote on her Star For A Night experience alongside Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo.
The Queen of Teleserye Theme Songs revealed a surprising twist—she might have inadvertently paved the way for Geronimo’s victory.
During the interview, Maricel asked Angeline about her early experiences in singing contests before her big break in Star Power.
The singer happily shared that Star For A Night was her first TV appearance at the young age of 11, and Sarah was among the contestants.

“Kasabay ko po doon si Sarah Geronimo,” she stated, highlighting their long-standing connection.
She further explained that their connection went way back to their elementary school days.
“Si Sarah po kasi, inay, bale nung elementary po ako schoolmate ko siya,” Angeline explained.
She further detailed that the popstar was her senior in elementary, and both of them are part of their school choir.
She then narrated how a chance encounter with Sarah’s mother, Mommy Divine, led to her unknowingly assist Geronimo’s entry into the competition.
“One time, nakita po ako ni Tita Divine, yung mommy niya… as tinanong ako ni Mommy Divine, sabi niya, ‘Uy Angeline,’” she shared.
Mommy Divine recognized Angeline from her “Star For A Night” stint and inquired about the audition process. The singer, without hesitation, shared all the details:
“So sinabi ko kung paano sumali,” she said, and elaborated on the process and requirements she went through in her audition.
It turned out Tita Divine was planning to have Sarah join the competition.
“So nung sinabi ko yun parang ako pa yung gumawa ng pagkatalo ko,” Angeline laughed at the irony.
Sarah Geronimo won Star For A Night in 2003, which raised her to stardom. Meanwhile, Angeline Quinto got her big break when she won Star Power in 2011.
Regardless of the results back then, the singer is happy for the popstar’s success.
“Para sa kaniya po talaga ‘yung gabi na ‘yun,” Angeline said, recounting the night Sarah won the contest.
