Andrea Brillantes announced her new perfume business on July 23rd. The actress had long planned to try her hands out within the makeup industry despite not having a sense of smell.
She shared the news on Instagram, showcasing a photo with Kyle Echarri to promote her fragrance line, “Lucky Potion.”
In her post, Brillantes addressed her condition: “As many of you know, I was born with congenital anosmia (no sense of smell), but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about the scent I use! In fact, my disability has made me more conscious of how people perceive my smell.”

“So, even though I can’t smell, I still enjoy wearing perfume, and I’m often asked about the fragrance I use. So here it is! I’m so excited and nervous to share it with all of you! I didn’t want my disability to hold me back from creating products that are related to scents. Huge thanks to my team for helping me produce these,” she added.
In July 2022, the actress candidly discussed her condition during an interview with Karen Davilla, where the show’s hosts directly asked about her diagnosis.
“Wala po akong pang-amoy at all. Wala po talaga. As in pwede po akong ututan sa mukha,” Andrea responded and confirmed the condition further.

Congenital anosmia occurs when a person is unable to smell from birth. It may appear as a standalone condition or be associated with other genetic disorders.
Andrea Brillantes’s perfume business has also garnered some skepticism from netizens as her smelling disability hints that she is unfit for the industry. However, the actress’s continuing progress made it clear that she is serious about her attempts.
For starters, ‘Lucky Potion’ has already introduced three new scents: Diary of a Lady, Stories for a Girl, and Letters from a Woman. Each bottle retails for PHP777 in every leading e-commerce platform within the Philippines.
