VIRGINA, USA — On Monday, actor Johnny Depp concluded his testimony in the defamation case he filed against ex-wife Amber Heard.
In his prepared remarks, he said he was the victim of domestic violence in their relationship and was “broken” by their separation.
Depp’s fourth day on the witness stand in the trial concluded with his attorneys playing audio from a conversation with Heard after she had secured a restraining order against him in 2016.
In a recorded conversation, Depp and Heard were discussing the possibility of jointly issuing a letter stating their love for each other. However, Heard resisted the idea and suggested a public declaration that he was a domestic violence victim.
“Tell the world, Johnny,” she said. “Tell them I, Johnny Depp – a man – I’m a victim too, of domestic violence,” Heard said in the recording.
Depp said in response: “Yes, I am.”
The actor testified that Heard would slap or shove him when they argued and once threw a broken vodka bottle at his hand, severing his finger. She then denies his statement and says she is doing it to escape his physical abuse.
He denied allegations that he assaulted his ex-wife, Amber Heard, and said that her accusations had destroyed his life resulting in a postponement of the latest “Pirates” film and his removal from the “Fantastic Beasts” series.
“I’ve lost everything. No matter the outcome of this trial, I’ve already lost. I lost when these allegations were made because they will stay with me forever. My life is ruined forever,” he stated.
“I certainly did nothing that I’m being accused of… All I think about is how many children have I met in hospitals and during filming? What will they say when they read this about me?.. That’s what really gets me,” an added statement during his trial.
A state court judge in Fairfax County, Virginia, is administering a trial scheduled to last until the last week of May.
Two years ago, Depp lost a libel case against The Sun, a British tabloid, after labeling him a “wife-beater,” where the London High Court ruled he had assaulted her former partner on repeat. – WhatALife!
