The hit series, Alice in Borderland, is set to return on Netflix this September 2025 with their highly anticipated Season 3. The series is based on Haro Aso’s manga with the same name.
The third season was confirmed back in 2023, with Netflix confirming Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya will reprise their roles as Arisu and Usagi respectively.
The story follows the protagonist, Arisu, a directionless young man trapped in an alternate reality where survival depends on playing deadly games.
In Season 2, it can be recalled that the alternate world Alice in Borderland characters were trapped in was the border between life and death. The ending was teased with a Joker card which led to discussion and theories among fans.
On February 12, 2025, Netflix posted a teaser photo on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption:

The photo shows a trio looking at a zeppelin that has a large joker card–a nod of the previous seasons.
Apart from the post, the streaming platform also changed their X bio and cover photo.
With Season 3 coming this September 2025, fans are left wondering if the story will follow the manga’s sequel Alice in Borderland: Retry or take the plot in a whole new direction–which is not an unusual move for adaptations.
The Joker is a mysterious character of the series who was not a game master. He is implied to be the ferryman of the borderland.
Alice in Borderland: Retry is the sequel of the series. It follows the story of Arisu and Usagi as a married couple expecting a baby. Arisu and Usagi do not have their memories at the borderland.
It was revealed in Season 2 that the Alice in Borderland characters were in a near death experience after getting involved in a big tragedy.
Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya’s roles are confirmed to return for Season 3 as confirmed by Netflix.
