The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has confirmed that the PHP350 daily subsistence allowance for its personnel is included in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA). This increase aims to improve the welfare of soldiers and support their daily needs.
The AFP addressed misinformation circulating online that claimed the allowance increase had been disapproved. In response, the military issued a fact-check notice on its social media accounts on Wednesday evening, clarifying that the increase remains approved and intact.
“The Armed Forces of the Philippines refutes the false and baseless information being spread regarding the disapproval of the PHP350 daily subsistence allowance increase for our personnel,” the AFP publicly stated.
“Contrary to these misleading reports, the PHP 350 daily subsistence allowance increase has been successfully incorporated into the approved 2025 General Appropriations Act,” they added.
In December 2024, House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan confirmed that the Congress allocated PHP17 billion in the proposed 2025 national budget to fund the subsistence allowance:
“Both the House and the Senate, largely through the efforts of Speaker Martin Romualdez, have agreed to provide a 133-percent increase in the daily subsistence allowance for our soldiers –from PHP150 to PHP350– to further improve their welfare. The allowance is now equal to PHP10,500 monthly,” Libanan said.
The AFP has over 150,000 active personnel across the country. The subsistence allowance is primarily intended to cover food and meal expenses. In addition to this, military personnel receive other forms of financial support, including allowances for clothing, laundry, quarters, and economic relief, as well as various bonuses and incentives. Certain groups of soldiers also qualify for additional compensation, such as hazardous duty pay, hardship allowances, and combat duty pay.
The implementation of the PHP350 daily subsistence allowance in 2025 will provide AFP personnel with increased financial support for their daily needs. This adjustment reflects the government’s investment in the welfare of its soldiers.
