Disney and Lucasfilm have officially confirmed that ‘The Acolyte’ has been canceled on actor Manny Jacinto’s birthday, who also had a role in the series.

Many fans considered the series one of the most controversial Star Wars projects to date, and it left a mixed impact on the fan base. Many criticize the Acolyte series for its writing flaws, story, characters, and how it “broke canon.” The series also received negative reviews from official critics. In fact, it is dubbed as one of Disney’s most review-bombed projects.

Star Wars’ “The Acolyte” was also criticized for its Season 1 finale, which ended on a cliffhanger and left many plotlines unanswered.

The sudden cancellation of ‘The Acolyte’ also comes with mixed reactions. Many seemingly celebrate the end of the ‘not so liked’ series. However, the news about the Star Wars series came as a shock to fans who liked the series. Many of these fans strongly believe the series did not have a chance.

Many supporting fans took to social media to share their reactions to the series’ cancellation. The news has become a growing trend because the Acolyte was canceled on the birthday of supporting actor Manny Jacinto.

For starters, Jacinto is a Filipino-Canadian actor who played Qimir in the series. He described his role as complex.

“I can’t overstate how disappointed I am,” one user posted his disappointment with the news on Twitter/X.

“Don’t cancel The Acolyte on Manny Jacinto’s birthday,” another user posted, wanting the series to be renewed.

The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller set during the final days of the High Republic era. The story follows two sisters, Mae and Osha, whose lives take different paths after a traumatic event involving the Jedi. Mae becomes a deadly assassin targeting Jedi, while Osha leads a more ordinary life as a mechanic.

Lucasfilm did announce other “Star Wars” projects under Disney, one of which was the upcoming “Skeleton Crew.”
