BUKIDNON, PHILIPPINES — Police have identified three people of interest in the gun incident that occurred during a visit by presidential candidate and labor leader Leody de Guzman to Bukidnon on Friday, April 22, 2022, according to Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo.

“Mayroon na tayong 3 person of interests at hinihintay na lang namin yung mga witness,” PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said in a radio interview.

(We’ve already identified three people of interest and we are awaiting witness statements.)

Fajardo also said that they also took several firearms from the security staff on the site where the incident occurred. Eight shotguns, two 9mm pistols, and a .38 calibers were among the weapons seized.

The firearms will be subjected to a ballistic investigation to see if they were used in the shooting, while the staff will be subjected to a paraffin examination, according to Fajardo.

The shooting incident on April 19 disrupted de Guzman’s visit to Bukidnon, where he discussed alleged land grabs with Manobo-Pulangiyon community members.

During the incident, De Guzman was unharmed.

Prior to De Guzman’s arrival, police said the owners and claimants had already agreed to simply wait for the court’s decision. – WhatALife!
