1Z Entertainment CEO and COO, John Paulo Nase and Yani de Dios, respectively, sit down with Billboard PH Volumes to share how they plan to empower Original Pinoy Music (OPM). They discuss 1Z’s roots, vision, and the importance of balancing creativity and business as an entertainment company.
1Z Entertainment is a company founded by SB19 members, Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin. They started 1Z when their contracts with their previous management nearly expired.
Leader and CEO Pablo said that the initial plan was to have only their own team so they could have more freedom with their craft. However, their plans grew bigger as they envisioned a brighter career for themselves and OPM.

When asked what is 1Z Entertainment, its CEO said, “1Z is short for ‘One Zone.’ The ‘Zone’ is something we call– the ‘Zone’ siya kasi parang pag nandun kas sa the ‘Zone’ you’re at your maximum potential. Kumbaga, doon ka mageexcel. So, gusto namin pagsasamahin ‘yung lahat ‘nung passionate, talented, creative people into ‘One Zone.’ And create the best output na talaga maipaglalaki natin.”
Yani de Dios also added, “It started from a small function kasi. Parang, we want 1Z to support SB19 sa mga side processes before. Like finances, their legal requirements, admin stuff, then it grows lang kasi. ‘Yung the goal, the vision, of the company grows too. Why not make it a house of creative people?”
Well, for those interested, 1Z Entertainment was hiring. A few months ago, the talent agency announced that they opened auditions for a girl group they’re building. Here, the company wants to share their knowledge and expertise in the industry to a new generation of talents.
Additionally, 1Z Entertainment emphasized the importance of a balance between creativity and business. They say that they aim to be as transparent as possible with their artists to maintain trust between both parties.
Yani said, “They have the right to know each aspect ng business. So, through that kasi mas maiintindihan nila and they will understand why the business or the management, ganun ‘yung desisyon.”
Furthermore, Pablo shared how proud he is of the current success of P-pop. He mentioned that it was nice to see different groups share one stage, including people behind the scenes. “It’s something na puwede mo talagang ipagmalaki sa buong mundo. And ‘yung vision ko na everytime na napapaginipan ko noon.”
He adds, “Alam mo ‘yung mga foreigners ‘yung talaga pumunta rito para panoorin ‘yung shows natin. Or talagang ineexport natin ‘yung shows natin na sobrang laki ng production.”

Pablo says that he wants artists to have a strong foundation in their development. “Ang pinakamahalaga when you’re working in this industry is peace of mind. ‘Yung tipo na you can go all out kasi alam mo at the back– sa likod mo ginagawa nila ang ng maayos. Tapos ‘yung management you can also go out kasi alam mo ‘yung artist hindi susuko and he would give his best ‘dun sa performance.”
The interview highlights 1Z’s goal, which is to promote Filipino music and culture. Additionally, they share that they aim to set a new standard of Filipino entertainment.
Currently, the 1Z Entertainment address is not available to the public for those interested in joining their company. However, their website says you can send them a spontaneous email if you’re curious.
Furthermore, fans can get to know more about them and purchase their merchandise on the official 1Z Entertainment website.
