‘The Batman’: The Cancellation of Movie Release in Russia

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — ‘The Batman’ 2022 American superhero film will have its release in Russia cancelled due to its ongoing invasion of Ukraine, according to Warner Bros.

The film ‘The Batman’ is the most anticipated film and blockbuster of the year 2022. But due to the unpredicted war crisis happening at the moment, it will have its release halted in Russia. 

‘The Batman’ film stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne or Batman and is one of the film’s highlights.

The most awaited film was set to release on Friday, March 4, in Russia. But unfortunately, the film production company Warner Bros came up with an official announcement of the cancellation of the release of the movie. This is with regards to evolving situation of Russia invading its neighboring country Ukraine.



“In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia is pausing the release of its feature film The Batman in Russia,” Warner Bros said in a statement

“We will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. We hope for a swift and peaceful resolution to this tragedy,” it added.

Warner Bros is not the only film production company that officially pulled releases of their movies in Russia. In fact, other film production companies, Disney and Sony, also paused their film releases in the country.

Disney, for instance, has announced to halt its film releases in Russia, including one of its potential hit films, Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” The production company said that it would pull all theatrical releases in Russia due to “unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis”.



Sony Pictures also cancels its release of the Morbius, saying, “Given the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis unfolding in that region, we will be pausing our planned theatrical releases in Russia, including the upcoming release of Morbius.”  – WhatALife!
