The Department of Tourism in Northern Mindanao has excitedly revealed recent updates regarding the Panguil Bay Bridge. It also shares about the bridge’s opening on September 27, 2024.
It is the longest bridge in Mindanao. Construction officially began in 2016 and is reported to have cost approximately ₱7.8 billion. Once complete, the bridge can reduce travel time between Tangub City in Misamis Occidental and Tubod town in Lanao del Norte from 2 ½ hours to just a few minutes.

In a past interview, DOT-10 Assistant Director Decius Esmedalla revealed how the Panguil Bay Bridge will benefit the entire region.
“The bridge will significantly enhance travel efficiency, reducing travel time and creating more opportunities for tourism activities,” he stated.
Moreover, the bridge’s opening is a long dream come true for the people of both Misamis Occidental provinces and Lanao del Norte.
The latter’s provincial government revealed this detail in a past statement. It also added that the bridge will provide “a permanent solution to connectivity challenges and stimulating economic activities.”

Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal Sr. also described the completion of the bridge as a “milestone.” He added that it signified the realization of two decades of project proposals by Congress, national agencies, and other partners.
