Trough of LPA brings cloudy skies and scattered rain showers in the country

pagasa weather update march 1 2022

On Tuesday March 1, 2022, The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued the most recent weather update in the country. The trough of the LPA would have an impact on the country’s weather.

The trough, or extension, of a low pressure area (LPA) will bring cloudy skies and scattered rain showers to parts of the country, according to PAGASA.

The LPA’s trough will bring moderate to heavy rains to the parts of the country outside of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). The low-pressure area is not expected to enter close to the country.

“Itong lPA na ito ay hindi natin inaasahang papasok o lalapit pa sa ating Philippine area of responsibility. Sa kasalukuyan ay wala rin po tayong namamataan na sama ng panahon na maaaring magkaroon ng direct effect dito sa ating bansa,” Pagasa weather expert Grace Castañeda said.

Over the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Abra, and Benguet, easterlies / localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Over Palawan and Caraga, the LPA’s trough will produce cloudy conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Coastal water conditions will be moderate to rough across eastern central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Northern Luzon, as well as the rest of the country, may expect light to moderate sea conditions.
