CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PHILIPPINES — Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy has signed EO (Executive Order) No. 114-2022. The EO orders the implementation of a Liquor Ban within a 100-meter radius of Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan for the duration of the November 2022 Bar Exams.

The liquor ban will begin on November 8, Tuesday night, starting at 8:00 pm until the next day, November 9, at 8:00 pm. Other than that, another liquor ban will be implemented for the following 2022 bar exam dates on November 13, 16, and 20 from 12:01 am to 8:00 pm.

A guide is given based on Executive Order No. 114-2022, signed by Mayor Uy.

The affected establishments in the range of the ban may continue to do their business within the period of the ban as long as they sell things other than liquor. In addition, they must not allow any individual, or group of individuals, to drink alcoholic beverages in or near their establishments.

Another EO has been signed to complement the liquor ban in ensuring the safe conduct of the bar exams. Based on Executive Order No. 116-2022, several roads near Ateneo de Cagayan university will be temporarily closed to keep the students safe and make the environment peaceful.

Mayor Uy implemented the guidelines in response to the Supreme Court’s request to implement a liquor ban and temporary road closures.

After the Supreme Court selected Cagayan de Oro as one of the bar sites of the regionalized 2022 Philippine Bar Examinations, this will be the second time that there is a local testing center in the city. – WhatALife!/Zed
