Idol Philippines Season 2 has a new set of judges and a new host, as per the ABS-CBN announcement on Friday, May 20.
Season 1 judges Moira dela Torre and Regine Velasquez will be the returning judges for the upcoming season, alongside new judges, including Filipino singer-songwriters Gary Valenciano and Chito Miranda.
The two OPM female stars have earlier served as one the judges of the previous season with the actor-singer James Reid and comedian-host Vice Ganda.
After the announcement, Moira took to her Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes moments with her co-judges while expressing her excitement about working with her inspirational artists.
Meanwhile, the new judge, Chito, revealed receiving an offer to be one of the judges for the first season. However, he declined the role because he did not think it would be appropriate for him to judge a singing competition since he does not consider himself a professional singer.
Despite his refusal in its first season, he finally took the given opportunity after the show’s explanation that even though the show primarily is a singing contest, one’s singing vocals are not the only thing that the show’s judges must consider to win the competition.
The singing competition in the country will also have the TV personality and the current host of the reality television series “Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity” Robi Domingo as its host.
Filipina host and actress Janine Gutierrez earlier announced that Robi is hosting the launching of the television show “Idol Philippines” during “ASAP Natin ‘To” last Sunday, May 22.
Robi also expressed his gratitude and honor after Janine’s announcement for being part of the “iconic show.”
The show’s first season had its premiere last April 2019, with Zephanie Dimaranan as the season’s winner. – WhatALife!
