CONFIRMED: Girls’ Generation August 2022 Comeback

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — Girls’ Generation will have their comeback in celebration of their 15th debut anniversary this coming August 2022.

The girl group’s agency, SM Entertainment, shared a statement today, May 17, announcing their preparation for an upcoming release of their new album.

The Girl’s Generation August 2022 comeback will mark their anniversary debut since their first group debut in 2007.

They also announced that all of the group’s eight members are participating and will contribute their part to the album, which marks the band’s first release after five years.



Their next album also follows their 6th full album called ‘Holiday Night,’ which they released last August 2017. 

Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon also had the recent release of her solo comeback under the name “HYO,” alongside her first mini-album called ‘DEEP’ on Monday, May 16.

The title song of her mini-album, which consists of seven tracks, will also be a dance track of the EDM genre.

Among those seven tracks are ‘Stupid,’ ‘DESSERT (featuring LOPPY and Soyeon of girl group (G)I-DLE),’ ‘Second (featuring BOBBY),’ ‘Badster,’ ‘Sober (featuring Ummet Ozcan),’ and ‘Punk Right Now (featuring 3LAU and HYO).’ 



The South Korean girl group has recorded hits for every song they release, including “Girls’ Generation,” “Gee,” “Tell Me Your Wish (Genie),” and “Lion Heart.” The band’s popularity has earned them the title of Legendary Girl Group.

The originally nine-member group currently consists of eight – Sunny, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Tiffany, Sooyoung, Yuri, Seohyun, and Yoona, after former member Jessica departed from them last September 2014.

Billboard named them the Top K-pop Girl Group of the Past Decade in 2017. Moreover, they are the first Asian girl group to achieve five music videos with over 100 million views on YouTube from their songs “I Got a Boy,” “Gee,” “Mr. Taxi,” “Oh!,” and “The Boys.”



As one of South Korea’s most prominent figures and most popular K-pop groups worldwide, they earned numerous accolades and were given the honorific nickname “The Nation’s Girl Group” in their home country. – WhatALife!
