MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Catriona Gray, Miss Universe 2018, is the first Filipino featured in the Madame Tussauds in Singapore. The beauty queen’s wax figure is now an interactive display at the museum.
The twin figure of Catriona is her winning look in Miss Universe 2018 pageant featuring Mak Tumang’s glittering red gown, the famous Filipino sun ear cuff, and the Philippines sash.
The figure’s gown was, in fact, a replica of Catriona’s made by Mak Tumang himself. Also, the heels are spare heels from the beauty queen’s 2018 pageant.
Catriona shared a post on her Instagram account with a photo of her and her wax figure at Madame Tussauds Singapore.
She also expresses her gratitude for being the only Filipino with a wax figure in the museum.
A special shoutout to Mark Tumang for the gown is also in her post since it was him that created the replica of the lava gown. She also explained that the differences on the neck line are to hide the “seams” where the head of the wax figure fit onto the body.
The lava gowns mesh base presented was a challenge, but the designer worked around it successfully.
The team chose the “final walk” look from her time in Miss Universe finals, sans the MU sash and crown, to create an interactive concept that allows viewers to “LavaWalk” with the beauty queen.
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015, also made a congratulatory comment to her co-beauty queen.
“Congratulations Cat!! ??????,” said Wurtzbach. – WhatALife! / Marean
