MANILA, PHILIPPINES — NAIA is now under investigation after a security personnel was recorded conducting an ‘unprofessional’ security check on members of the Kpop group ENHYPEN. The airport incident has since enraged fans of ENYPEN.

Social media was abuzz after a video of a NAIA staff doing a pat down with members of the K-pop group ENHYPEN went viral. The security personnel was seen ‘giggling’ while conducting the frisking.

On Monday, the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) released a statement saying it will probe the “unprofessional behavior” of the staff.

“The management is currently investigating the matter to determine the extent of violation committed based on existing rules and security screening protocols, if any, and impose appropriate administrative sanctions, should it be necessary,” OTS said in a statement.

“Rest assured that the OTS shall never tolerate any unprofessional behavior towards the riding public,” added OTS.

Engenes call out NAIA on social media

Engene, ENHYPEN’s official fan base, flooded social media, raising the issue of the airport incident.

Some observations pointed out that the staff was not wearing gloves while frisking the K-pop idols. Fans said it is a clear violation of the non-contact security check policy of NAIA.

Others found hidden cameras recording the boys during departure procedures. The act is a clear violation of the airport’s policy against filming at security screening checkpoints.

“While we understand the excitement brought about by the presence of these Korean artists, we remind not only our personnel, but all airport users, that unauthorized filming at our security screening checkpoints is not allowed as a matter of policy,” said OTS in the same statement.
